A 42-year-old British tourist was killed in a quad bike accident on the Ionian island of Corfu on Tuesday afternoon after reportedly losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a tree in a roadside olive grove.

The accident occurred in the Almyros area in northern Corfu. The victim’s 15-year-old son, who was riding as a passenger on the quad bike, was seriously injured.

Emergency services removed the father from the quad unconscious and transferred him to a regional hospital in Acharavi before he was taken to Corfu General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His son remains hospitalized and is receiving treatment for his injuries.

Authorities have not yet determined the exact circumstances of the crash.
