The Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Puducherry has appealed to the residents to complete the e-KYC registration for ration cards immediately.Director of Civil Supplies Muthu Meena, in a press release, said the Supreme Court and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution have issued directions making mandatory the e-KYC registration for ration card holders in the country. The registration was made mandatory to ensure welfare benefits and subsidies are delivered to genuine and eligible beneficiaries only, the release added.To ensure compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court and Central Government, the department has made arrangements to carry out e-KYC registration for ration card holders through the Common Service Centres in Puducherry. “Therefore, all ration card holders and family members who have not yet completed e-KYC are requested to visit their nearest Common Service Centre along with their ration card and Aadhaar card for completing the e-KYC process free of cost,” the release said.
