South Africa hit by cold, rain and thunderstorm activity as skies turn violent this Tuesday.

South Africans can expect a cold to cool and unsettled Tuesday as showers, rain and scattered thunderstorms spread across large parts of the country, while strong coastal winds create hazardous sea conditions along sections of the Western Cape coastline.

The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging coastal winds between Table Bay and Cape Agulhas.

Gale-force south-easterly to easterly winds are expected along the south-west coast, leading to difficult navigation at sea.

Rain chances will be highest over the central and southern interior, including parts of the Northern Cape, Western Cape and Eastern Cape, where scattered showers and thundershowers carry a 60% chance of rain.
