In January-April, the net balance of Greece’s state budget on a cash basis had a higher surplus year-on-year, rising to €1.18 billion from €939 million in the same period last year.
The central government cash balance recorded a surplus of €1.01 billion, compared to a surplus of €1.87 billion a year earlier. This reflected an increase in ordinary budget revenue, which amounted to €22.45 billion, compared to €22.23 billion in the same period last year.
Ordinary budget expenditure amounted to €21.6 billion, from €19.8 billion in January-April 2025. The primary balance of the state budget increased to €4.3 billion in the same period, up from €3.9 billion in the first third of 2025.
