Private credit firm Lakeland Equity Group’s $1.6 billion proposal to build a data center in Cleveland, Ohio, has been rejected.
The City of Cleveland’s Mayor Justin M. Bibb announced on Thursday May 14 that the city had “rejected the permit for the data center” which was set to be built on a 35-acre site at 3560 E 55th St.

In its application, Lakeland said that this would be “the city’s first state-of-the-art hyperscale facility,” equipped with “advanced power, cooling, and fiber connectivity.” The identity of the campus’s proposed end user remains unknow
Located in Slavic Village, an area in southeastern Cleveland, the address is currently home to trucking company Morabito Enterprises.
