SaharaReporters gathered that Umuakpo narrowly escaped being killed during the chaos as the violence erupted at the venue of the exercise.
Ovie Umuakpo, the Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, reportedly escaped death following an alleged invasion of the venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta South senatorial primary election, SaharaReporters has learnt.
The incident, which was also said to have targeted the State Commissioner for Health, Joseph Onojaeme, was allegedly carried out by armed youths believed to be loyal to the governor’s aide. The attack reportedly left several people injured at Ebe Primary School, Ovrode, in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Recounting the incident, a member of the APC who witnessed the attack told SaharaReporters that the armed youths stormed the venue and opened fire, causing panic among party members who had gathered to cast their votes. Several participants were reportedly injured in the ensuing stampede and gunfire.
