In a symbolic push for fuel conservation and environmental awareness, officials in Sri Sathya Sai district on Monday observed “No Vehicle Day” by opting for eco-friendly modes of transport.District Collector A. Shyam Prasad rode an electric scooter from his camp office to the Collectorate here to participate in the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) programme.He said that the initiative was organised in line with the appeals made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, encouraging the public to reduce fuel consumption and curb pollution. The Collector urged the people to avoid using fuel vehicles at least once a week and instead make use of electric vehicles and public transport.Meanwhile, Joint Collector M. Mourya Bharadwaj travelled to the Collectorate in an APSRTC bus alongside regular passengers.
