A joint operation led to the seizure of 17.145 kg of ganja packed in an unclaimed bag found near the compound wall of the Vikarabad railway station during a joint raid conducted on Saturday.The operation was carried out by the District Task Force team, Eagle team, Government Railway Police, Railway Protection Force and Vikarabad police.Officials said the teams were conducting checks in the vicinity of the railway station when they noticed an unattended bag near the rear side of the station compound wall.On opening the bag, police found 10 brown-coloured packets containing dry ganja. The contraband, weighing 17.145 kg, was seized.Police said enquiries were conducted in the surrounding areas to trace the owner of the bag, but no claimant came forward. A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.The seized contraband and case records were handed over to the Station House Officer, Vikarabad, for further investigation.
