The Commander of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a message praising medical staff, doctors, nurses, and emergency relief workers active during the “Ramadan War,” claiming they saved the lives of more than 34,000 wounded individuals.

A segment of the message reads: “I sincerely honor the continuous and invaluable efforts of the professors, doctors, nurses, paramedics, first responders, and other healthcare sector personnel who, with exemplary skill, revived the lives of over 34,000 wounded during the Ramadan War.”

This commendation was published even though, following the protests of January 8 and 9, 2026, numerous reports from human rights organizations documented the arrest and summoning of medical staff members across Iran.

According to those reports, many doctors, nurses, and hospital personnel were detained or subjected to intense pressure by the Islamic Republic’s security forces for providing medical aid to injured protesters, leaking information related to the crackdowns, or standing in solidarity with the demonstrations.

Some reports further noted that during the unrest, security forces were deployed inside hospitals to monitor and control the treatment process of the wounded.
