Community sources told SaharaReporters that the collapse of the Moro Bridge and the failure of diversion works have now grounded movement in and out of the area, forcing civil servants and workers to stay back at home.

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Kwara State has been unable to transport inmates for scheduled court appearances in Ilorin following severe flooding that cut off access roads around the Moro Bridge axis on Monday morning.

SaharaReporters gathered that the situation was worsened after the temporary alternative route created by residents and commuters was completely blocked by rising floodwaters, leaving major parts of Mandela community inaccessible.

A nurse residing in Mandela but working at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) in Surulere described the situation as “completely crippling.”
