BACOLOD CITY—Cauayan Mayor John Rey Tabujara on Sunday condemned the “violence, intimidation, and disturbance” allegedly caused by the New People’s Army (NPA) in his municipality.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Tabujara said the local government of Cauayan in Negros Occidental will not tolerate any threats to civilian safety.
His statement came after encounters between soldiers of the 15th Infantry Battalion and alleged NPA fighters in Cauayan on Saturday, which left five suspected rebels dead.
