A World War II-era bomb was found in the southwestern German city of Pforzheim, prompting the evacuation of approximately 30,000 residents.

According to Ukrinform, dpa reported this, citing a local police statement.

According to a police spokesperson, the 1,800-kilogram bomb is scheduled to be defused later today; authorities are currently verifying that all residents have left the evacuation zone.

The HC-4000 bomb was found during construction work in the eastern part of the city, which is located about 40 kilometers from Stuttgart.

According to officials, the bomb contains about 1,350 kilograms of explosive material.
