The site of former US Army Base Camp Page in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, is set to become a massive “pollution-blocking” forest. The city announced the preparations for the project on Jan. 9, saying the forest is expected to be completed in 2021 and will help purify the region’s air from microparticles and other pollutants. Because of its location, the site has been highlighted as a prime spot for blocking northwestern winds that carry microparticles and smog from China.
