In a letter dated May 12, 2026, and signed by Acting General Secretary Dominic Igwebike on behalf of the union leadership, NUEE warned that it could resort to “all legitimate labour means” if the company fails to address the concerns within 14 days.
The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has issued a demand notice to the management of Egbin Power Plc, accusing the company of intimidation of workers, breach of agreements, and exposing employees to poor working conditions.
In a letter dated May 12, 2026, and signed by Acting General Secretary Dominic Igwebike on behalf of the union leadership, NUEE warned that it could resort to “all legitimate labour means” if the company fails to address the concerns within 14 days.
The letter, addressed to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Egbin Power Plc in Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos, described the industrial relations atmosphere at the plant as “deteriorating” and accused management of suppressing workers’ concerns through “high-handedness.”
“We are compelled to bring to your immediate attention the deteriorating industrial relations environment at the plant and the resolve of your Management to resort to high-handedness to suppress the legitimate concerns of the workers,” the union wrote.
