The group said al-Haddad, who headed the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, was killed alongside his wife, daughter, and other Palestinian civilians on Friday evening.
The Palestinian group Hamas has confirmed the killing of its military leader, Izz al-Din al-Haddad, in an Israeli attack, describing the incident as a “treacherous and cowardly assassination."
The group said al-Haddad, who headed the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, was killed alongside his wife, daughter, and other Palestinian civilians on Friday evening.
Hamas said the killing represents another breach of the Gaza “ceasefire” agreement, accusing Israel of continuing what it described as “ongoing aggression against innocent civilians” in the enclave.
In a related reaction, Palestinian armed groups also mourned al-Haddad, with the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement and its military wing, the Mujahideen Brigades, confirming his death in a separate statement reported by Al Jazeera.
