Greece’s Competition Commission has approved the acquisition of supermarket chain ANEDIK Kritikos by retailer Diamantis Masoutis, clearing a deal aimed at expanding Masoutis’ footprint in the domestic grocery market.

The decision, announced Friday, follows a preliminary agreement signed by the two companies in January under which Masoutis would acquire 100% of Kritikos.

The companies previously said the transaction would ensure business continuity, safeguard jobs and employee rights, and maintain uninterrupted service for consumers across Greece.

Masoutis said the acquisition forms part of its broader strategy to strengthen its market presence while supporting domestic production and its network of suppliers and partners.
