MANILA, Philippines — Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa’s reported departure from Senate premises may undermine the legal basis of his urgent motion for a temporary restraining order (TRO) before the Supreme Court, election lawyer Romulo Macalintal said on Saturday.
Macalintal believes dela Rosa’s move created a “supervening event” that could render his petition “moot and academic.”
“The recent departure of Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa from the Senate premises has triggered a significant shift in the legal landscape of his urgent Motion for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) before the Supreme Court,” Macalintal said in a statement.
