A. Lange & Söhne Cabaret Tourbillon HoneygoldA. Lange & SöhneA. Lange & Söhne has released the Cabaret Tourbillon Honeygold in a limited edition of 50 pieces. Its distinctive rectangular case and dial are crafted from 750 honey gold, the brand’s proprietary alloy. The honeygold dial, finished in black rhodium and manufactured in-house, contrasts with the warm hue of the honeygold case, which measures 29.5 mm by 39 mm. The tourbillon with stop-seconds mechanism is positioned at 6 o’clock. The upper tourbillon bridge and the top side of the cage are decorated with elaborate black polishing. The A. Lange & Söhne “Up/Down” power-reserve indicator appears at 4 o’clock, while a small seconds subdial is placed at 8 o’clock. An outsized date display sits at 12 o’clock. The dial’s frames, scales and A. Lange & Söhne inscription are sculpted directly from the dial material, standing out in relief by 0.15mm. The Roman numerals III, IX and XII, along with six lozenge-shaped hour appliqués and the frame for the outsized date, are separately integrated into the dial. The auxiliary dials are connected to the main dial from the back, a process the company said takes several weeks. The manually wound in-house caliber L042.1 powers the A. Lange & Söhne Cabaret Tourbillon HoneygoldA. Lange & SöhneThe black polishing used on the upper tourbillon bridge and the top side of the cage is among the most demanding finishing techniques in watchmaking. Abrasive pastes are applied by hand across a tin plate until the surface reflects light like a mirror from one angle and appears jet black from another. All acute internal angles of the cage are hand polished.MORE FOR YOUThe Cabaret Tourbillon, introduced in 2008, was the first tourbillon wristwatch equipped with a stop-seconds mechanism. The new honey-gold edition continues to use this innovation, which allows the tourbillon to be halted at any moment by an arresting spring, regardless of the position of the balance or cage, enabling precise, one-second time setting. While standard in conventional mechanical watches, this function long remained unresolved in tourbillon timepieces until A. Lange & Söhne developed its solution. The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the manually wound in-house caliber L042.1. The movement is composed of 370 parts, including 84 components integrated into the filigreed tourbillon, which weighs approximately a quarter of a gram. A total of 49 jewels are used for the movement, including two diamond endstones. A twin mainspring barrel delivers a 120-hour power reserve, while the balance spring operates at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour. The movement, measuring 22.3 by 32.6mm is based on the Cabaret model launched in 1997 and was specifically designed to fit the rectangular case. The stop seconds tourbillon, signature “Up/Down” power-reserve and small seconds subdial on the A. Lange & Söhne Cabaret Tourbillon HoneygoldA. Lange & SöhneThe L042.1 features a three-quarter plate made of German silver and decorated with Glashütte ribbing, both signatures of A. Lange & Söhne movements. Additional hallmarks include a hand-engraved tourbillon cock and intermediate-wheel cock, screwed gold chatons, blued screws and a ratchet wheel embellished with solarization, a specialized decorative spiral finish applied to mainspring barrels and winding wheels. The watch is paired with a dark-brown alligator leather strap. The Cabaret Tourbillon Honeygold is the 18th Lange timepiece crafted in honey gold.
