The plot could put Poland and Baltic states Lithuania and Latvia, which share borders with Belarus, in the firing line.‌“Russia is considering plans for operations to the south and north of Belarusian territory – either against the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction in Ukraine or against one of the NATO countries directly from the territory of Belarus,” Zelensky said.‌The 40-mile wide Suwalki Gap, which links NATO states Poland and Lithuania, running between Russian and Belarusian territory, is seen as the alliance’s weakest link.
