Mr Supakorn says Thailand has experienced a sharp rise in cyber reconnaissance activity targeting domestic internet protocol addresses, partly because the country hosts a large number of multinational firms.

As the conflict in the Middle East intensifies, cybersecurity spending in Thailand is accelerating as organisations move to strengthen cyber-resilience against a surge in digital threats, according to global cybersecurity firm Fortinet."Whenever geopolitical conflicts erupt, cybersecurity is often the first front to intensify," said Supakorn Kungpisdan, country manager of Fortinet Thailand.

Cyber-activity typically escalates rapidly during periods of conflict through network scanning, probing, and cyber-reconnaissance targeting critical organisations and infrastructure.

Thailand has experienced a sharp rise in cyber-reconnaissance activity targeting domestic internet protocol addresses, partly because the country hosts a large number of multinational firms, including American, European, Singaporean, and Middle Eastern companies.

The volume of scans and probes has increased significantly, mirroring patterns seen during previous regional conflicts, noted Fortinet.
