Weinstein had pleaded not guilty to one count of third-degree rape, insisting through his lawyers that the sexual encounter was consensual.

A New York judge on Friday declared a mistrial in the rape retrial of disgraced former Hollywood producer, Harvey Weinstein, after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict in the closely watched #MeToo-era case.

The former Hollywood mogul, who has already been convicted of sex crimes in both New York and California and remains behind bars, showed no visible emotion in court as officers wheeled him out after the judge’s ruling.

CNN reports that the Manhattan jury, composed mostly of men, had been deliberating over allegations that Weinstein raped Jessica Mann in 2013.
