A civic tech organisation, Citizens’ Gavel has hailed the disciplinary measures taken to sanitise the Nigerian judiciary, including the "query of 256 judicial officers over poor performance and the suspension of erring judges for misconduct."
Citizens Gavel said in a release on Thursday that the measures also include "the adoption of stricter eligibility standards for judicial appointments."
The organisation hailed the National Judicial Council (NJC), under the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, for the bold and commendable resolutions reached at its 111th meeting held on 13th May 2026.
