DUBAI; The 20th anniversary edition of Art Dubai arrived this week in a more intimate, pared-back format, yet still drew eager crowds that flowed steadily through the venue from opening hour.
Collectors, curators, artists and art enthusiasts gathered in the familiar corridors of Madinat Jumeirah, weaving between gallery booths, installations and conversations that placed the spotlight firmly on the UAE’s cultural evolution over the past two decades.
This year’s edition, which runs until Sunday, brings together more than 100 presentations from commercial galleries, institutional participants and creative partners, while focusing on the artists, galleries and initiatives that have shaped the region’s art scene and market.
Despite its reduced scale, the atmosphere was energetic throughout opening day. Visitors clustered around installations, lingered in front of modern Arab masterworks and packed discussion spaces in the central majlis as the fair leaned into community and dialogue.
Large-scale installations and site-responsive commissions were integrated throughout the venue, including works by Khalid Al-Banna, Hashel Al-Lamki, Kevork Mourad and Sudarshan Shetty.
