A Federal Capital Territory High Court has sentenced two security guards to life imprisonment for the repeated rape of a child who was just six years old when the nightmare began.
The convicts, James Sule, 30, and Adamu Yau, 25, both guards in an Abuja estate, systematically violated their young victim for six agonising years, turning her childhood into a living hell while threatening to wipe out her entire family if she dared to speak.
"This is a clear message to all violators that NAPTIP is closing in on them!" said NAPTIP Director General Binta Adamu Bello said after Justice S.M. Mayana of the FCT High Court 46, Apo, handed down the maximum sentence without the option of a fine, according to a statement issued on Friday by Vincent Adekoye, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, NAPTIP
The court heard how in 2016, the victim, then just six years old, was left crying on a bed after spoiling a cello tape. Her grandmother had asked Sule, the family's security guard at the time, to fix a broken toilet at their Penthouse Estate residence in Lugbe, Abuja.
