The authorities of the Coimbatore International Airport erected tin sheets to cover portions of the airport’s compound wall that was damaged in the heavy rain accompanied with strong wind on Thursday evening.
Sources said that the compound collapsed at two locations – near Chinniyampalayam and near the mud road connecting airport road to SIHS Colony. Damage occurred close to the runway (05/23) near SIHS Colony road.
The airport authorities deployed personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to avoid trespassing of outsiders into the airport compound.
