Marriages have risen most sharply among those aged 25–34, though the number of weddings among 20–24-year-olds has also increased.The average age for a first marriage has edged down to 32.6 for women and 34.4 for men.Most couples marrying in 2025 opted for a civil ceremony.August remains the most popular month for weddings, followed by July and June.May is also becoming a fashionable month for weddings. The number of May ceremonies rose by 40 percent last year compared to 2024.Just over 11,700 marriages ended in separation last year, around 70 fewer than the year before.The average age at divorce after a first marriage was 42.6 for women and 44.7 for men. Couples who divorced last year had been married for an average of 12.6 years.
