Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides addressed a special session of the Greek Parliament Thursday, in the first such speech by a head of state from Cyprus in 16 years.

Christodoulides expressed hope that talks on reunifying the war-divided island can resume with the Turkish Cypriots.

He recently said the United Nations are likely to launch a fresh push to resolve the decades-old problem before the term of Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expires at the end of the year.

Christodoulides also thanked Greece for sending military assets to the island republic amid the fallout of the US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
