The University of the Philippines reported that, as of 2025, its innovation ventures and initiatives were strongest in health, agri-aqua and food, and climate and environment.

Among the 113 technology ventures and initiatives reported by the Technology Transfer and Business Development Office under the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation in 2025 were 45 technology licenses, 24 spinoff companies and 68 technology transfer leads.

Most ventures were in health (34), agri-aqua and food (25), and climate and environment (10). For technology licenses, most were in agri-aqua and food (20), health (20), and climate and environment (4). “These data show where the heart of UP is, with the Filipino people,” UP President Angelo Jimenez said. “They are the result of our collective and conscious efforts to remain true to our mandate as a public service university. We focus on innovations that matter most to our people,” Jimenez added.

At the media briefing May 5 to kick off the two-day Inoblasyon: The UP Innovation Summit 2026, TTBDO reported an innovation profile featuring 113 ventures and initiatives, 24 spinoff companies, 23 technology licensees, 152 innovation partners — unique organizations working with UP ventures — and 1,428 intellectual property registrations, including patents, utility models and copyrights.
