Speaking at a banquet following a meeting between the leaders of China and the US, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China's advancement goes "hand-in-hand" with making America great again.
"Achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and making America great again can totally go hand in hand, help each other succeed, and advance the wellbeing of the whole world," Xi said, in an apparent reference to US President Donald Trump's MAGA movement.
Trump the took the stage and said talks that took place that morning had been "extremely positive," and described the banquet, which took place in the Great Hall of the People, as "another cherished opportunity to discuss among friends."
Trump said he had invited Xi to visit the White House on 24 September.
"It is my honour to extend an invitation to you, Madam Peng, to visit us at the White House this September 24, and we look forward to it," Trump said, addressing Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan at a banquet following talks in Beijing.
