Europe's defence is going through a "tectonic shift", Kubilius said

EU Defence Commissioner Andrius Kubilius on Wednesday called on Eastern flank countries to play a stronger “strategic role” to build a new European collective defence.

“It would be a mistake if this entire region would not be intellectually active in presenting its own ideas of how this new European collective defence architecture needs to look like,” Kubilius said at an event of the Lithuanian Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels.

“What we’re facing now is the process of transformation of the transatlantic collective defence of Europe into the European collective defence of Europe,” he added, calling it a-once-in-a-century “tectonic shift.”
