Thoothukudi police have launched a foot patrol initiative to curb crimes in the district.

Several measures are being taken to control the movement and distribution of narcotic substances. As part of the efforts, Thoothukdudi police have launched the initiative to prevent crimes both in urban and rural areas.

According to a police source, the initiative was launched by former Thoothukudi District Superintendent of Police C. Madhan with the aim of strengthening communication between the police and the members of the public. He added that given the limited police presence in rural areas, the initiative has been expected to improve the daily visibility of police personnel.

In Thoothukudi city, police personnel are jointly carrying out activities by patrolling on foot along key roads in the city during evening hours. During the patrol, the police personnel directly interact with members of the public, listen to their grievances and create awareness by urging them to install CCTV cameras. They also advise the public to immediately inform the police station about any suspicious activities to help prevent criminal incidents.
