The Singapen Special Task Force (SSTF) was launched in Salem city on Thursday (May 14). The unit, the formation of which was announced by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay shortly after he assumed office, aims to improve women’s safety.Commissioner of Police (CoP) Anil Kumar Giri inspected the vehicles provided to the SSTF. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sooramangalam) Ramali Ramalakshmi will supervise the force. Members of the force are Sub-Inspector M. Arulmozhi; special sub-inspectors R. Amsavalli and S. Satyavathi; and head constables R. Premalatha and K. Mankayarkkarasi.Mr. Anil Kumar Giri said the SSTF is an all-women unit. The force has been provided with all facilities, including including communication equipment, body-worn cameras and vehicles. If a complaint regarding women’s safety is received by the police control room through 100, it would be immediately forwarded to the unit.
