The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) has identified serious irregularities linked to unauthorised medical practice and the operation of clinics by unqualified individuals during raids conducted in Hyderabad’s Old City on Wednesday (May 13, 2026).

The TGMC inspection team found evidence suggesting that medicines were administered and treatments provided without valid medical qualifications or registration at multiple clinics in Edi Bazaar. The raids were conducted by TGMC Vice Chairman Kiran Kumar Thotawar, along with elected members Vishnu Kadali and Imran Ali.

The council said inspections were carried out at five clinics in the Edi Bazaar area, including Shaheen Clinic, Dr. Raheem Baig Memorial Clinic, Shifa Health Care, K.F. Clinic, and Masood Waquil Qureshi Clinic.

The TGMC said such practices pose a direct threat to public health and patient safety. The council stated that strict legal action would be initiated against individuals involved in illegal and unethical medical practice under relevant provisions of law.

The TGMC further said that surprise inspections and enforcement drives would continue across Telangana as part of efforts to curb fraudulent and unsafe medical practices. It also appealed to the public to seek treatment only from qualified and registered medical practitioners.
