House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) once again reacted to an outrageous comment from President Donald Trump by doing his best ostrich impression.

On Tuesday, the president admitted that he’s not concerned with how his unpopular war with Iran is affecting the everyday lives of Americans, saying, “I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation. I don’t think about anybody.”

But while some people thought Trump’s couldn’t-care-less comment was a perfect midterm ad for the Democrats, Johnson stuck his metaphorical head in the sand and claimed he was unaware of it when asked about it on Wednesday.

“I don’t know the context in which he made that comment, but I can tell you the president thinks about Americans’ financial situations,” Johnson said. “I talk to him, on average, twice a day, sometimes three or four times a day, and we talk about it constantly.”

To be fair, Johnson wasn’t the only Republican who claimed to be unaware of Trump’s latest comment, but it’s a habit he has honed throughout his House speaker stint.
