Former MLA of Nagercoil A. ‘Nanjil’ Murugesan died of a massive cardiac arrest on Wednesday. He was 59.Murugesan, an AIADMK candidate, was elected to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Nagercoil Assembly constituency, where he defeated DMK’s R. Mahesh by a margin of 6,727 votes in 2011.After he was arrested in 2020 in connection with the assault on a 15-year-old girl from Nagercoil, who eloped with a 20-year-old boy, Murugesan was expelled from the AIADMK.
