Julia Louis-Dreyfus jumped back into her “Veep” character Selina Meyer on Tuesday to deliver a savage tribute to Stephen Colbert on one of his final episodes of “The Late Show.”

Louis-Dreyfus, promoting her new film “The Sheep Detectives,” began by noting to Colbert how “people have been coming on the show recently to sing your praises and give you gifts” ahead of his last show on May 21.

“You know how much I love you. I really do. I wanted to sort of add to the chorus to sort of boost you along whatever brilliant thing you do next,” the actor said, before revealing — to Colbert’s surprise — that she had “got some of the ‘Veep’ writers,” a show Colbert is a big fan of, to write “Veep”-style lines in character as Meyer.

What followed was a hilarious roast.

Louis-Dreyfus as Meyer mocked Colbert’s looks, the pronunciation of his surname and upcoming relevance, or lack thereof, his love of “The Lord of the Rings” and the “corporate jizz guzzler” responsible for the upcoming end of the long-running show.
