May 5 (UPI) -- A bear that prompted a park to be closed and an elementary school to be put on lockdown was tranquilized and wound up asleep atop a brick wall.
The bear caused authorities to shut down Hansen Dam Park in the Lake View Terrace area of Los Angeles on Sunday after being spotted in at least three different trees over the course of the day.
The bruin wandered into a Pacoima-area neighborhood on Monday, causing a nearby elementary school to be placed on lockdown.
The bear was tranquilized by California Department of Fish and Wildlife officials working together with park rangers and the Los Angeles Police Department.
The animal's time wandering the area finally came to an end when it passed out atop a brick wall.
