The police have launched a massive search operation in Dharmapuri and its surrounding areas in Jagtial district on Tuesday following the reported recovery of one of the two motorcycles used by the accused in Sunday’s armed robbery at a Karimnagar-based jewellery shop in Beerpur forest area.
According to sources, a motorcycle was found abandoned in the forest area in Beerpur mandal on Tuesday. The police suspect that the assailants fled towards Donur forest area adjoining Jannaram mandal of Mancherial district.
Special police teams from Karimnagar in coordination with the local police launched an extensive search in Dharmapuri and Beerpur mandals to track down the fugitives, sources said.
It is suspected that the members of the gang took shelter in a lodge in the temple town a day before committing the armed robbery in Karimnagar.
All of them, barring one who wore a mask during the robbery, are believed to be from other States, most likely Bihar, sources added.
