The Andhra Pradesh State Agricultural Officers’ Association has urged the State government to constitute a Screening Committee to facilitate long-pending promotions of Agricultural Officers (AOs) in the Agriculture Department.

In a statement, association leaders D. Praveen and K. Balabhaskar said the recent revival of the promotion process for senior officials helped resolve issues that persisted for decades and brought renewed momentum to the department.

However, it pointed out that a large number of Agricultural Officers completed over 20 years of service without being promoted to higher positions. They expressed concern that such prolonged stagnation was adversely affecting both the morale of the officers and the efficiency of departmental functioning. It emphasised that timely career progression was essential for maintaining motivation and ensuring effective delivery of agricultural services.

They urged the government to convene a Screening Committee to consider eligible officers for promotion to the post of Assistant Directors of Agriculture (ADAs).
