Southern Railway achieved a significant milestone in 2025–26 with its Traction Distribution (TRD) assets registering their best-ever performance, reflecting a sharp improvement in reliability and maintenance standards across the zone.
SR’s Senior Public Relations Officer D. Omprakash said: “Southern Railway recorded just three asset failures during the financial year 2025–26, a noteworthy reduction from 13 failures reported in 2024–25, translating into a 77% improvement. A paradigm shift in maintenance culture, driven by constant monitoring and proactive leadership, brought this achievement, according to officials of the zone. Regular follow-up of Special Maintenance Instructions issued by Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) from time to time, coupled with strict adherence to Modification sheets and schedules, ensured meticulous upkeep of all TRD assets.
