The Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Purvanchal wing staged a protest outside Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s residence on Sunday against the killing of Pandav Kumar, a 21-year-old delivery executive from Bihar, allegedly by a Delhi Police constable in the Bindapur–Jaffarpur Kalan area on April 26.
The family alleged that the accused hurled casteist slurs at Kumar before opening fire.
According to sources in the Delhi police, the constable has been suspended, and an inquiry has been initiated. However, family members have accused the police of “protecting their own”. Several protests have been organised demanding action against the constable, with eyewitnesses claiming that Kumar was attacked for his “Bihari identity”.
During the protest on Sunday, AAP workers demanded compensation of ₹1 crore for the victim’s family, a government job for a family member, and strict action against the police personnel.
AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that a young man was killed merely because he was from Bihar. “Under the BJP government, the national capital is becoming an intolerant city,” he said.
