A 32-year-old autorickshaw driver was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a mason at M.V. Kuppam near Pernambut town in Vellore on Sunday over a petty quarrel.
The arrested person was identified as S. Mani, a native of M.V. Kuppam. He was an autorickshaw driver in the village. The victim B. Gajendran (52), a mason, also belongs to the village. Initial inquiry revealed that suspect Mani got into an argument with a local AIADMK functionary S. Balaji (43) for not giving money to him on April 23, the polling day. As Balaji ignored him, Mani got agitated and thrashed him. Both of them exchanged blows.
