The Manalmedu police on Sunday arrested a 42-year-old teacher at a government school on charges of sexually harassing a Class 10 student and abetting her suicide. The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The victim, a 16-year-old girl from a village within the Manalmedu police limits, recently appeared for her Class 10 board examinations. On April 27, the girl tried to end her life and was rushed to the Thanjavur Government Medical College and Hospital where she died on April 28.
