In the admission season for the current academic year, enrollment data from private colleges in Bengaluru indicates a strong preference for specialised, industry-oriented programmes over traditional degrees. Commerce remains the most sought-after stream, particularly courses integrated with data analytics and finance.
At Mount Carmel College (MCC), the highest application volumes were recorded for B.Com in Strategic Finance, Business Analytics, and International Accounts. Regina Suganthi, registrar (Admissions), noted that within the School of Science, B.C.A. programmes specialising in AI, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity saw peak demand.
In response to market needs, MCC introduced new undergraduate programmes in English Literature and Language, alongside postgraduate degrees in Geology and Wildlife and Conservation Sciences.
Kristu Jayanti University (KJU) reported similar trends, noting high interest in B.Com across 13 specialisations. The university has also introduced new programmes, including B.B.A. in Healthcare, B.Com in Enterprise Resource Management, and B.Com in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFI).
