The Mysuru Hotel Owners’ Association has strongly condemned the steep hike of ₹991 in the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder, terming it a ‘severe blow’ to the hospitality sector.
In a statement in Mysuru on May 1, association President C. Narayanagowda said the latest revision has pushed the price of a commercial cylinder in Mysuru to ₹3,132, marking one of the sharpest increases in recent times. He stated that such an unprecedented surge within a short period threatens the survival of hotels, restaurants, and small eateries.

“This level of price rise has never been witnessed before. It will cripple the hospitality industry and place an additional burden on customers, tourists, and the general public who depend on hotels for daily meals,” he said.
Highlighting the cascading impact, Mr. Narayanagowda noted that the hike in LPG prices would inevitably push up food and service costs. “Prices of meals and snacks will skyrocket, disrupting the cost of living,” he cautioned.
