Millions of people still suffer from hunger around the world, Pope Leo XIV said Thursday.

Faced with the plight of millions of people who "still suffer from hunger," the pope called for the ability to "transform the logic of selfish consumption into a culture of solidarity" that can promote "concrete gestures," such as awareness campaigns, effective food distribution to the poor, and the adoption of a "sober and responsible" lifestyle.

He made the statement in a video on his Prayer Intentions for the month of May, dedicated to the theme "For Food for All," released through the multimedia campaign "Pray with the Pope" promoted by his Worldwide Prayer Network.
