Special Judge of Fast Track Court in Puducherry, M.D. Sumathi, on Thursday (April 30, 2026), found the lone surviving accused Kaka alias Karnas guilty of all charges in the sexual assault and murder of a nine-year-old girl in 2024 in the Union Territory.
The judge found the accused guilty of charges including gang rape, murder, kidnapping, and under other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Later, she posted the case to May 5 for sentencing of the accused.
Case background
The girl was found missing from her home on March 2, 2024. Three days later, her body was recovered from a neighbourhood drain. The police received information that the girl was seen last with Karnas, who was then 20 years old and was living next to the child’s house.
