Telangana government issued orders appointing Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy as State Security Advisor (SSA) upon superannuation. A ceremonial farewell parade was held for Mr. Reddy on Thursday morning, marking the end of over three decades of service in the police force.
It was published in these columns that he would be appointed as SSA and the government was keen to utilise his expertise in Left Wing Extremism and other aspects of policing.
According to the orders issued on Thursday (April 30, 2026), he would advise the government on issues concerning Police, Law and Order, Internal Security, Crime Control, Narcotics Control and Road Safety for a period of three years from the date of assuming the charge. Mr. Reddy would have the status and rank of Chief Secretary.
