The Italian Foreign Ministry said it has asked Israel to provide it with information after its forces intercepted the new Global Sumud Flotilla, which includes Italian pro-Palestrinian activists and boats, overnight as they sailing towards Gaza carrying aid.
"Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has immediately requested the (foreign ministry's) Crisis Unit, the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv, and the Italian Embassy in Athens to liaise with the Israeli and Greek authorities to define the details of the ongoing operation and allow the Italian government to take the necessary measures to protect the Italian citizens on board," the ministry said in a statement.
