April 29 (UPI) -- The State Department will issue new "limited-edition" passports with President Donald Trump's image in them to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States.

The department shared the plans on Tuesday saying that the new design will be available this summer. A "limited number of specially designed" passports will be released and available to American citizens who apply at the Washington Passport Agency, department spokesman Tommy Piggott told Fox News. People can apply for them for as long as supplies last.

The State Department released an image on X of the new imagery.

The image of Trump will be on the inside cover and will be surrounded by text from the Declaration of Independence.

"Online options or other locations will maintain existing passport design," a department official told CNN.
